A Women’s Guild has been formed at Brookfield. Mrs. Woolford was elected president, and Mrs. V. Watson secretary and treasurer.^
There was a large influx of natives to Morrinsville this week for a sitting of tho Native Land Court. Judge MacCormick presided. Tho natives, who conic from tho Matamata, Maungatautari, Taupiri and Matangi districts, are chiefly interested in the Pukemoremore block of about 800 acres near Matangi. The block was confiscated by the Crown during the war of 1866, but has recently been given back to the natives, it is thought that approximately 400 natives are concerned. The land is first class and has been cropped by I'akcha farmers.
