GRASS FIRES
Two grass fires which broke out about midday yesterday and endangered several houses, were attended by the Mount Albert Fire Brigade. A small rubbish fire which spread tc> the grass on a section in Veronica Terrace, Mount Albert, was easily extinguished by the brigade. An hour later tho brigade was summoned to Fergusson Avenue, EdenV'ale, where burning-off operations had been in progress, and the fire had Sot beyond control, jeopardising several houses. It was soon suppressed, Without damage to property*
