HORTICULTURE AT NEW LYNN

SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING The annual meetirtg of the New Lynn Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday evening, the president, Mr. G. Lawson, presiding. According to the annual report, from both the spring and autumn shows a small credit balance resulted. The exhibits were of a high standard, and the society was fortunate in having had two silver cups donated for annual competition, besides many dozen vases for staging the exhibits. Equally successful shows were anticipated during tlie current season. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. E. Greenslade for his services as honorary auditor, and to Mr. R. A. Jeffrey for his untiring work as honorary secretary and treasurer. The election of officers resulted:— ; Patrons, Sir James Gunson. Mr. 11. G. R. Mason, M.P., Mr. C. F. Gardner. Mr. F. Brook© Taylor, Mr. E. R. Edney, Mr. A. Crum and Mr. A. F. Naylor: president, Mr. G. Lawson; secretary and treasurer. Mr. R. A. Jeffrey; committee, Messrs. A. Whitbread, R. Wright, G. Oakes, G. K. Gilliam. E. Holbrook, G. MeAndrew, E. W. Edgerley, J. Parry, H. J. Cutler, W. Kerr, H. S. Sadgrove and F. W. Knowles.
