IMPORT TONNAGE DOWN
JULY FIGURES FOR PORT The tonnage of import cargo through the port of Auckland last month was a. small decrease on the amount in July, 1928. Last month, a report to the Harbour Board yesterday afternoon stated, 93,598 tons were handled against 100,474 for the same month last year. The coastal cargo from beyond the Auckland Province contributed 23 748 tons; the United Kingdom. 13,322; the United States, 11,778; Australia, 10,730Canada, 8,504; Cuba, 7,386; Belgium 4,451; Borneo, 2,800; Pacific Islands 2,099; Morocco, 3.935; Chile, 1,160; and Seychelles Islands, 1,682. Tho arrivals and the departures in the passenger traffic were also smaller. A donation of £lO 10s was made to tho Missions to Seamen and one of £ 5 5s to tho Labour Day Celebration Committee.
