PROPOSED TAX SYSTEM CONDEMNED TARANAKI FARMERS PROTEST Press Association (The SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) HAWERA, Tuesday. A meeting of farmers and representatives of commerical interests, convened by the South Taranaki provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union passed a resolution this afternoon protesting against the proposed amendments of land and income taxation as throwing an inequitable, burden on the farming community, it being considered that other avenues should be explored to balance the Budget deficit" The meeting suggested that, before any increase in taxation was approved, steps should be made to curtail the cost of Government administration and that a protest be made against lowering the mortgage exemption.
