MORE MILLS REOPEN
BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY DISPUTE EFFORTS AT SETTLEMENT British Official H'irclcss Recd. 10.30 21.111. RUGBY, Monday. Sir Horace \Vilson, Permanent Secretary ot’ the Ministry of Labour, continued today his work as conciliator in the Lancashire cotton dispute, holding an informal conference with the parties. The Legislative Council of the United Textile Factory Workers, representing all the operative unions, met at Manchester this afternoon. On the employers‘ side a. meeting of the general committee of the Federation of the Master Cotton-spinners’ Association will be held tomorrow, when it is understood a. report will be submitted on the conversations which tlte employers’ representatives had with the Prime Minister on Saturday. No indication is given officially of the nature of those Conversations, or of the basis which it is understood the Prime Minister suggested for bringing the employers' and the operatives’ representatives, into a. conference. There is a. growing feeling that the employers will agree to arbitration. Five more mills resumed work today at the old rate of wages. ,
