SHOW OF GAME FOWL
AUCKLAND CLUB’S FINE EXHIBITION LIST OF JUDGE’S AWARDS For the first time in New Zealand, an exhibition of game fowl was shown when the Auckland Game Fowl Club’s annuoj show was opened in the New-, market Municipal Hall yesterday by the Mayor of Newmarket, Mr. S. Donaldson. Breeders from all parts of the Auckland Province, and also from as far south as Christchurch, are exhibiting birds of a high standard. Entries total i 365. The judge was Mr. O. Anderson, of Carterton, who expressed himself as well pleased with the birds, which lie said included some of the finest specimens of game fowl he had'ever seen. One of the novel features of the show is a small kiwi, which attracted much attention yesterday. Mr. L. E. W. Wood’s black-red cock, with six awards, was adjudged the best bird in the show, with Mr. Errol Bust’s blue-red cock as runner-up. Mr. D. G. Saunders’ pullet, in the blue or blue-red class, won the cup for the best bird of opposite six to the previous winner, with Mr. Errol Bust’s pile pullet as runner-up. Mr. Wood’s blackred cock won the North Island championship for old English game. Mr. W. Hart’s black-red cockerel won the North Island ehampinoship for modern game bantams.
