Radium Needles Lost ! The loss of two radium needles valued at £6O from the Christchurch Hospital has been reported to the board. They were probably mislaid and thrown out. —P.A. Labourer Claims Damages Fred Taylor, labourer, in the Arbitration Court at Wellington, is claim- ] ing a total of £ S 3 10s 5d from the Harj hour Board in respect to an injury to ! one leg in April a year ago. which re- | suited in, or aggravated, a hernia. In cross-examination plaintiff admitted that he had been operated on some years ago for hernia. The case is proceeding. —P.A. Fire to Hide Thefts George Thomas Gordon, aged 27, carpenter, appeared for sentence before the Chief .Justice at Wellington on a charge of breaking and entering and theft at Lower Jlutt. The case had a serious aspect in the fact that prisoner had intended to burn down the place to hide all traces of his crime. His Honour could not overlook this, he said. The sentence he proposed to pass might be regarded as being on the lenient side. It was two years’ imprisonment with hard labour, to be followed by detention for reformative purposes not exceeding two years.
