The case had a serious aspect in the fact that prisoner had intended to burn down the place to hide all traces of his crime. His Honour could not overlook this, he said. The sentence he proposed to pass might be regarded as being on the lenient side. It was two years’ imprisonment with hard labour, to be followed by detention for reformative purposes not exceeding two years.
