PROFIT ON YEAR’S WORKING MINISTER QUOTES FIGURES Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. The Power Boards’ Conference opened today, Air. J. A. Nash, M.F.. presiding over an attendance of about 150. The Minister of Public Works, the lion. E. A. Ransom, and the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, were present. Mr. Ransom, addressing the delegates. said he did not wish to disassociate Mr. Coates from the progress made, as he had brought forward many of the big schemes now In hand. Th«* Minister outlined the position with regard to the various plants in operation, and in preparation, and dealt with the subject of charges. Statistics showed that all undertakings had made a profit of £502,535 for the year ended March 31, after allowing for operating and capital costs. He stressed the importance of amalgamating costs The whole position must be considered as a national one. and units must be co-ordinated. Mr. Coates said he saw no general difficulties in the way of progresn to be considered. He thought that legislation preventing any local supply authority developing a scheme of its own would be beneficial.
