FARMS FOR SETTLERS

GOVERNMENT’S PROGRESS WORK BEING PUSHED ON Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Hon. G. W. Forbes, in an interview today, replied to a newspaper's statement that only one property had been acquired by the Ward Government. To date 11 properties, totalling 11,357 acres, had been acquired by agreement of purchase at £214.39H. with delivery at specified dates. Obviously the Government desired to offer the properties for selection and delivery at suitable seasonable periods, and arrangements were being made for ballots to take place some three months before actual delivery. The department had arranged witn several vendors to allow building material, etc., to be brought into several areas by successful applicants soon after each balot; also for the prosecution of necessary road formation. Mr. Forbes also mentioned that the Land Purchase Board was negotiating for further properties.
