Waikato Racing Man Successful

MR. BURCH’S TROPHY HORSES SOLD WELL IN AUSTRALIA Tlie most valuable piece of personal luggage on the Marama this morning was a beautiful case of cutlery in the form of a table. It was the property of Mr. H. W. Burch, the well-known Hamilton racing man, whose horse, Stormy, won the second division of the Canterbury Cup in Sydney recently. Naturally Mr. Burch is proud of the trophy, which is an excellent and unusual piece of work. When the top of the small table is lifted it discloses the cutlery, which is of the finest English workmanship. The whole thing is valued at over £SO. The Hamilton sportsman, who is very -well known in Auckland racing circles has spent the last three months in Sydney. “Australia cannot teach us anything about racing,” he said this morning on the Marama, when asked about conditions across the Tasman. Mr. Burch sold his three horses, Stormy, Becalmed and Dalston, to Australian owners. Dalston brought £1,500, Becalmed £SSO and Stormy £6OO. During his visit to Australia Mr. Burch raced the three horses eight times and had two wins and three seconds, which he considers a very good performance.
