WORLD-FAMOUS BELGIAN ’CELLIST SYDNEY, Sunday. Advice has been received here that M. Jean Gerardy, the famous Belgian ’cellist, is dead. He toured Australia and New Zealand in 1924. M. Gerardy was born in Belgium in 1877, and studied at Verviers Conservatoire. He married Miss Amelia McQuade, an Australian woman, in 1907. He first visited New Zealand when in his early 20’s, and in J*xckland appeared in the old Choral Hall. He was regarded as the finest ’cellist of his time.
