STOCK MARKET DULL
LONDON BROKERS BECOME CONCERNED COMPLEX CAUSES (United Service) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. The dullness on the Stock Exchange is greatly concerning stockbrokers. The position is difficult to clarify, since the influences at work on it at present are a curious mixture of political fears, financial technicalities, and a mass reaction against last year’s rampant gambling. The public, nevertheless, is inclined to speculate. The uncertainty regarding safeguarding is adversely affecting industrial stocks. In view of the likelihood of a renewal of Anglo-Russian relations, it is interesting to observe that American capital has lately been pouring into the Soviet in renewed volume. It is doubtful, whatever happens, whether British capitalists would be equally enthusiastic.
