HOWICK TOWN BOARD
A meeting of the Ho wick Town Board was held on Thursday evening, Mr. J. Crawford presiding. It was decided to improve footpaths in Uxbridge Street when funds are available. The members of the board who had inspected the proposed source of water supply at Pigeon Mountain in connection with the reticulation of the town district reported in favour of the proposal. The engineer, Mr. A. G. Walker, was authorised to arrange for an accurate test as to the quantity available, later excavation having considerably increased the flow in the well. If there is sufficient water of good quality available early steps will be taken to obtain the ratepayers’ sanction to a loan for the work, the estimated t cost of which is under £ 9,000. A proposal to allow a 5 per cent, rebate on the general rate for payment within 30 days was agreed to.
