LACKED WARMTH
RECEPTION TO OTAGO FARMERS CRITICISM AT HAMILTON (Special to THE SUNJ HAMILTON. Friday. That tho welcome to the Otago farmers lacked cordiality was asserted by Mr. T. H. Henderson, president, at the meeting of the Waikato sub-pro-vincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Lnion today. He urged that special efforts should be made to entertain the Southland farmers. Mr. J. Mackay (Newstead) said the organisation of the Otago farmers’ excursion was a disgrace to the Railway Department. The boarding accommodation arranged had been deplorable. Women who had left good homes were given small, chilly ‘‘holes and corners” as sleeping quarters. Many had made bitter complaints to him of the treatment they had received. The inspection of the Ruakura farm had been conducted in a most casual and informal manner. The whole event was characterised by a distressing lack of organisation. It was decided to invite the Waikato Winter Show Association and other local organisations to co-operate and afford the Southland farmers a suitable welcome.
