OVER 150 CONVICTIONS

BROKE PROHIBITION ORDER ‘‘We have had him on the island, we have done every mortal thing we can for this man,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when the 151st conviction was entered against Ernest Edward Cuthbertson Maxey at the Police Court this morning. Maxey was charged with being found drunk in Queen Street and breaking the terms of his prohibition order. He pleaded guilty, but assured the magistrate that it was going to be bis last lapse, as he was determined to go straight in future. Senior-Sergeant O’Grady reminded the court that Maxey had been fined £5 as recently as May 27. A fine of £5 was imposed on the second charge, default being fixed at one month’s imprisonment.
