KAYE DON BREAKS MOTOR RECORDS SWALLOW HITS MECHANIC British Official Wireless Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Monday. Driving his British Sunbeam car at Brooklands today, Kaye Don, the famous racing motorist, beat the ■world’s record for a standing-start mile at 100.77 miles an hour. Mr. Don also beat class C records as follows: Standing-start kilometre, 85.71; flying-start kilometre, 140.95; flying-start mile, 133.98 miles an hour. During the effort a swallow struck the mechanic in the face, and the bird was killed by the impact, but the mechanic was not seriously hurt.
