Surprise Party for Bride-Elect MANY USEFUL GIFTS A kitchen evening in the form of a surprise party was held in the Richmond Presbyterian Mall last evening, for Miss Ivatie MacDonald, who is shortlv to be married. Streamers and bunches of gailycoloured balloons decorated the hall. During the evening items were contributed by Miss Thelma Rose and Mr. ,T. Buchanan, which, were very much appreciated. The guest of honour was the recipient of many useful gifts. She wore a pretty frock of honey beige jersey velour Among those present were: Mrs. McLachlan, in beige bengaline and lace. Mrs. Mclntyre, who wore french grey with oriental trimmings. Mrs. Cairns, in a cedar brown and rose frock. Mrs. McKenzie, wearing black crepe de cliine and ecru lace. Mrs. W. Redshaw, who wore black taffeta and lace. Mrs. Anderson, in a black crepe de chine gown, relieved with flesh georgette. Mrs. J. Buchanan, wearing navy blue crepe de chine. IN EMBOSSED GEORGETTE Mrs. G. E. Mills, in royal blue embossed georgette. ♦ Mrs. Ewart Hill, who wore a pink chiffon frock with silver lace. Mrs. A. Stanners in navy ring velvet. Mrs. Cummins, who wore a black chiffon frock, sequined. Mrs. Boswell, wearing blue taffeta and silver lace. Mrs. W. J. Hynes, in a bois de rose eliarmelaine ensemble. Mrs. Rose, wearing a black crepe de chine gown. Mrs. D. M. Dunns, in a beige georgette frock, relieved with tea rose crepe de chine. Mrs. Norton, who wore leaf green velvet. Miss Lucy MacDonald, an a bronze crepe de chine frock. LACQUER RED VELVET Miss K. Stanners, wearing powder blue georgette, with uneven hem. Miss E. Fowler, who wore lido blue crepe de chine and ecru lace. Miss C. McDonald, wearing navy blue repp. Miss T. Bow, who as in navy blue marocain, relieved with cerise. Miss M. Cairns, who wore blue ring velMiss E. Stanners, in lacquer red chenille georgette. Miss Billie MacDonald, wearing a blue and grey gown. Miss I. Holroyd, who wore navy blue, relieved with red crepe de chine. Miss B. Redshaw, in a rose pink gown with lace relief. Miss Vera Hynes, who wore green crepe de chine, with uneven hemline. Miss Helen Dunn, wearing a blue repp gown.. Miss D. Holroyd, in a wine coloured repp frock. Miss J. Gow, In an autumn tinted frock of crepe de chine. Miss J. Mill, wearing lotus blue embossed velvet. Miss J. Gordon, in navy georgette, with oriental trimmings. Miss F. Anderson, who wore cherry crepe de. chine. Miss Gloria Hill, in pastel blue crepe de chine, with spray of flowers to tone. Miss Thelma Rose, in shell pink crepe de chine, with silver lace. Miss Sheila Anderson, wearing black satin, with touches of gold, and uneven draperies. TENNIS CLUB DANCE The annual dance of the St. Patrick’s Tennis Club was held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Saturday evening, when several officers and members of the crew of the Bmden attended. A demonstration of the new ’’sugar step” was given for the first time in Auckland.
