FANCY DRESS BALL
Northcote Co-operative Social Club MANY ORIGINAL COSTUMES Gaily-coloured festoons ancl shaded lights decorated the Parish Hall, Northcote, on Saturday evening, when the Northcote Co-operative Social Club held its sixth annual fancy dress ball. Mr. B. Mayall provided splendid music for dancing, and during the evening a programme of songs was contributed by Mr. F. Swinbank, Mrs. B. Stewart and Mrs. W. Shorter. Mr. J. Davidson acted as M.C. The supper tables were decorated with arum lilies and narcissi and. evergreens. The following prizes were awarded by the judges, Mr. A. Hogan, Mrs. J. Routlian and Mrs. W. Edmonds, for the costumes: Girls —Miss Joyce Howland, Dolly Vnrden; Miss Isabelle Fullbrook, Lemon Squash; Miss Doreen Shorter, Fairy. Boys: Master C. Headland, Golliwog; Master F. Harvie, Cowboy. Women: Mrs. D. Stewart, Wedding Cake; Mrs. F. Woodward. Victorian Lady: most original lady, Mrs. B. Mayall, Fisher Girl. Men Air. F. Daniall, Coster; most original man. Air. B. Alayall. Bargeman: most humorous character. Air. 1?. Stewart, Clown. Among those present were:— Airs. Swindale, Patches; Airs. P. Stewart, Night; Airs. Copeland. Eastern Lady; Mrs. Aloore, Waitress; Airs. BIRTHDAY PARTY CHILDREN ENTERTAINED A jolly birthday party was given by Mr. and Airs. William C. Etting pt their residence, Springleigh Avenue, Alount Albert, for their little daughter Margery. The dining room was decorated with coloured streamers and balloons and the paper hats worn by the children gave the room a very festive air. Games and competitions were much enjoyed by the children and a very pleasant evening ended with the singing of “Auhl Lang Syne.” Among those present were: Vera.
