ACADEMIC CLUB ADDRESS A lecture on the “Trend of Alodern Alusic” was delivered by Air. R. Fairburn at a meeting of the Auckland Academic Club held in the Unity Hall last evening. Aliss Elfreda Hall read a selection from John Drinkwater; Aliss Joan Aluskett played a rhapsodic of Dohnanyi, and Aliss Alarjorie Smith played “Water Play,” by Ravell. The following selections from modern composers were given: Piano duo from Saint-Saens, played by Airs. Wynn and Miss Valentine; vocal solo, “Sea Fever,” by Air. Hallihan; dramatic recital, Aliss Pilkington; piano duo, Suite, from Arensky, played by Aliss Marjorie Smith and Airs. Ford; songs by Aliss Ida Walker.
