COMMUNITY SINGING

EFFORT AT TOWN HALL Over £25 will go to the Earthquake Relief Fund as a result of the Community “Sing” held in the Town Hall today, the collection being devoted to that cause. Preference was given today to the old time songs and “Uncle Tom” of IT A (Mr. T. T. Garland) wielded a vigorous baton and produced good results from a large attendance. “Old Folks at Home” and “Love’s Old Sweet Song” were given with spirit and the “sing” ended with the “Cheer Germ” song and the National Anthem. The soloists, Miss M. Atkinson and Mr. Karl Atkinson, were repeatedly encored. Mr. Garland interspersed the songs with a variety of anecdotes with a “religious” flavour. Mr. B. A. Eacly was in the chair and Mrs. Barrington Snow was the accompanist.
