KELSTON DRAINAGE

RECOMMENDATIONS BY BOROUGH ENGINEER

Three methods of extending the sewerage system through the new Kelston area were reported on by the borough engineer at Tuesday’s meeting of the New Bynn Borough Council. One was by extending the main sewer from Rimu Street to a point in Manuka Street near the old town board district boundary. A second proposal consisted of laying 9in and Gin pipes from the encl of the present main sewer at a flat grade round the slopes below Nikau Street and Manuka Street. A third proposal consisted of merely extending the 6in branch drains from their present termini. The council eventually decided to submit a copy of the report to the Keiston Ratepayers’ Association for its recommendation.
