BOY RUGBY CAN HELP SUGGESTED PUBLIC MATCH The following letter containing a suggestion that the annual King’s College v. Grammar School match should be played on an Auckland park and the proceeds devoted to the fund for the relief of sufferers from the recent earthquake has been received by Tl 3 Sun: Sir, — Is it too late for the Rugby Union and the administrators of King’s College and the Auckland Grammar School to arrange for the annual game between these popular school teams to be played at Eden Park on Saturday instead of at Middlemore? The school authorities already have agreed to allow a collection to be made on behalf of the distressed sufferers from the recent earthquake but it seems to me, sir, that a great opportunity would be lost out there to raise a substantial sum for the relief fLfnd. These school teams always provide an attractive contest and if this, year’s match were to be played at Eden Park, even as a curtain-raiser to the usual senior grade match, I feel confident that ten or twelve thousand people would gladly attend and would not hesitate to pay 2s for admission, provided that all the receipts were to be devoted to the amelioration of acute conditions in the stricken South Island earthquake area. This would be a popular way for “good sports” to raise £I,OOO. L.S.D.
