KING’S RETURN
LONDON TO HAVE CHANCE OF WELCOME AN OPEN CARRIAGE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Friday. It is officially announced that their Majesties will return to London on July 1. They will travel from Windsor in a closed ear as far as Kensington, where, weather permitting, they will enter an open landau with outriders and postillions wearing the royal livery for the State entry. They will travel by an indirect route to enable the many thousands who will certainly desire to do so to welcome the King’s return. It was the King’s own desire that an open carriage be used in the final stage of the journey, if the weather renders it possible. The thanksgiving service in the Abbey has been fixed for July 7. Their Majesties will attend the service and journey to Sandringham next day. They will probably spend some time there.
