TE AWAMUTU BRIDE

WEARS PICTURE FROCK CHITTENDEN—McGOVERN On Saturday last at St. Patrick’s Church, Te Awamutu, the wedding w?is celebrated of May Margaret, eldejst daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. McGovern, of Kihikihi Hoad, Te Awamutu, to John Albert, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Chittenden, of Epsom, Auckland. The ceremony was performed by the Kev\ Father Brown, Mrs. Bevin presiding at the organ. The bride chose for her wedding a dainty period frock of ivory taffeta, the tight-fitting bodice being relieved with a spray of pale pink georgette and silver roses. The skirt was cut with an effective uneven hem-line, dipping to the back and edged with deep silk lace. The bridal veil was of palest pink gossamer tulle, floral embroidered, surmounted by a coronet of tiny orange blossoms holding it in place. She carried a bouquet of spring flowers, maidenhair fern and asparagus edged Avith palest mauve. The bridesmaid was Miss Kathleen McGovern, sister of the bride. Her frock w r as of eau de nil georgette. The corsage was relie\ r ed with a cross-over line of green and gold flowers, ending in a boAV of gold on each side of the front. The prettily petalled skirt dipped at each side. Her hat was of matching green georgette and silk net, finished with a gold bow on the side. Her bouquet consisted of shaded gold flowers.

Mr. Dudley Chittenden, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held at the Commercial Hotel, Mrs. McGovern receiving her guests in a black costume and furs, with black felt hat. She carried a posy of violets and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Chittenden, mother of the bridegroom, AA r ore a navy floral crepe de chine frock, ■with navy cloth coat and felt hat. Her posy was of red and gold rosebuds, maidenhair fern and autumn-tinted leaves.

Included among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Downey and family (Hawera). Air. and Mrs. J. O’Sullivan, Air. and Mrs. P. Quin, Mr. and Mrs. H. Peake, Mr. and Mrs. Linehan, Mrs. F. McGovern. Misses E. Chittenden, M. Quin, M. Maloney, and E. Peake, and Messrs. F. Quin, B. Quin, J. McGovern, M. Chittenden and A. McGovern.
