STRUCK SMALL BOY
BULLYING MAN FINED £1 DEFENCE CUT SHORT Having struck a small boy, and made His nose bleed, Andrew O'Neill was charged at the Police Court this morning with assault. .He was fined £l. The boy said that he was playing marbles at the side of the road, and went in pursuit of one that had rolled away. A dog flew at him, and defendant had called to him to get away from the dog. He had then come oyer and struck witness on the nose with his clenched fist. “I went home to my mother with my face skinned,” added the child. Another boy corroborated that evidence, as did John Christy, who had remonstrated with defendant for striking the child. O’Neill cross-examined all witnesses at great length, and had just asked Christy whether or not he was known as “Kingi” when Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. cut him short. O’Neill: But, your Worship, I wanted to show that this man’s word is not reliable. He is known as “Kingi” because he is the king of liars.
