REINSTATEMENTS
N.Z. LEAGUE COUNCIL
CXSE OF A. M. MANSILL
While the reinstatement of M. Herewini and It. Nottingham by the Auckland Rugby League was approved at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand League last evening, without any comment, it was moved, following a lengthy discussion, that the reinstatement of A. M. Mansill be held in abeyance for further consideration. The chairman, Mr. C. Snedden, said that Mansill’s change over to the Rugby code a few years ago created considerable attention and his subsequent activities were not considered favourably. He felt that the council, in spite of the Auckland League’s acceptance, should have a further inquiry.
’lt was moved by Mr. Stallworthy that the approval be held in abeyance. Mr. JDoble said that the Auckland League had assented to the reinstatements "without comment, the players being present at the time. It had to be taken into consideration, however, that some of the members of the League may not have been conversant with the position concerning Mansill's exit.
As the Auckland League had made no adverse comment, it was the opinion of Mr. J. Carlaw that the reinstatement should be granted. Mir. McLean supported Mr. Carlaw’s remarks. He said that these reinstatements were coming tiresome, he had noticed lately that a number of players were changing over from one code to the other and he considered that th,e attention of all the Leagues should be called to this fact.
