INTERRUPTED STAY
WESTPORT ENGINEER TO RETURN HOME AT PRESENT IN AUCKLAND One very interested in conditions on the West Coast at present is Mr. C. Schadick, engineer to the Buller County Council, whose headquarters are at Westport, and who is at present in Auckland on annual leave. Although he has not yet completed his vacation, Mr. gchadick has made arrangements to return to Westport, where he expects a considerable amount of work will await him. Although a great deal bf damagfe has been caused by slips coming down on the county roads and main highways, of which his county has a big mileage, Mr. Schadick is of opinion that his chief concern will be with the bridges In the county which covers most of the worst damaged localities. Information has been received that in the Kararnu riding practically all the bridges have been affected. Mr. Schadick does not look forward with any deg tee of confidence to resuming his interrupted holiday at an early date. Mr. Schadick is well known to many Rugby followers, having represented the West Coast and also taking part in the All Black trials prior to the last English tour. He lias also taken an active part in many of the principal tennis tournaments held in different parts of New Zealand.
