MARKETING METHODS
GROWTH OF CO-OPERATION N.Z. PRODUCERS Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. The ninth annual meeting of the New Zealand Producers’ Co-operative Marketing Association was held last evening, Mr. E. Harding, of Hawke’s Bay, presiding. The chairman stated the turnover for the year amounted to £1,500,000. He believed that the fight of the future would be between capital and co-operation, and, given loyalty, the latter must win. A striking illustration was the Co-operative Wholesale Society of Britain, which, starting with only a few members, now numbered 6,000,000. This society really fed half the population of England and Wales. Speaking of the possibilities of a pork market in England, Mr. Harding said that for his own shipment he received Sd a lb when New Zealand factories were offering only 4d. The speaker thought the Dominion is on the eve of an era of stable prices.
Messrs. W. L. Harkness (Taranaki), W. Fisher (Wellington) and J. H. Stubbs (Auckland) were re-elected directors, and Mr. John Fisher, of Southland, was also appointed.
