Northamptonshire.—Surrey, in its first innings, made 197 (Sandham 67), and in its second innings 360 for six wickets (declared). (Sandham 110, Squires 110, Brooks not out 50). Northants, in its first innings, made 170, Gover taking six wickets for 81, and in its second innings 214 (Timms 72). Bowling, Fender took eight wickets for 74. Surrey won by 179 runs. Essex v. Middlesex.—Essex, in its first innings, made 477 (Cutmore 79, Bray 92, Russell not out 111), and in its second innings 54 for two wickets. Middlesex, in its first innings, made 486 (Hearne not out 285). Bowling, Eastman took four wickets for 123. Middlesex won on the first innings. Warwickshire v. Kent.—‘Warwick, in its first innings, made 485 (Kilner 71, Smith 89, Wyatt 146). Kent, in its first innings, made 222 (Ames 97). Kent followed on for 213 (Legge 57). Bowling, Paine took four wickets for 40. Warwick won by an innings and 50 runs. Hampshire v. Derby.—Hampshire, in its first innings, made 62. Bowling, Mitchell took five wickets for 20. and Townsend four for 17. Hampshire, in its second innings, made 129. Bowling, Slater took five wickets for 50. Derby in- its first innings made 290 (Lee not out 134). Derby, won by an innings and 99 runs. Nottinghamshiz'e v. Somerset. —Nottingham, in its first innings, made 255. Bowling, Hunt took four wickets for 61. Somerset, in its first innings, made 80, Bowling, Larwood took five wickets for 33. and Barratt five for 44. Somerset followed c-n, and made 165. Bowling, Voce took four wickets for 50, and Staples four for 39. Notts won by an innings and 10 runs. Lancashire v. Worcester.—Lancashire, in its first innings, made 592 for four wickets, and declared (Watson 207, E. Tyldesley not out 187, Iddon 85). Worcester, in its first innings, made 308 (Higgins 109, Wright 66). Bowling. Macdonald took four wickets for 76. Worcestershire, in its second innings, made 260 (Wright 55). Lancashire won by an innings and 24 runs.
