“DOWN AND OUT” FUNDS BENEFIT BY CONCERT

MERRY MASQUERADERS The Rev. Jasper Calder’s “down-and-out” shelter should profit reasonably well as the result of the concert given by “The Merry Masqueraders” at St. Michael’s Hall, Belmont, last evening. A bright programme was provided, a sketch and duet from “The Country Crirl” being interspersed with vocal and instrumental numbers. Speaking at the interval Mr. Calder said that the heartfelt thanks of the mission authorities were due to all present for their kindly and practical interest in the great social work of the mission. It was difficult for those not In close touch with the work to realise the urgent necessity for a continuous stream of money to carry on this undertaking. It was announced that “The Merry Masqueraders” would shortly give a concert in Devonport in aid of the unemployment relief fund.
