AMBULANCE BRIGADE HOLDS BRIGHT DANCE AT ROTORUA
PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS The Rotorua branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade held a. fancy dress and plain carnival in the Peerless Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of funds for uniforms and equipment for the brigade. A delightful evening was spent by the largq, number present, the music being supplied by “Epi Shalfoon” and his “Melody Boys” Orchestra. The following were successful in the respective competitions: Rive hundred tournament, women, Mrs. Wilmott, 1; men, Mr. Roberts, 2. Mesdames Jackson (Mayoress) and Mrs. Wilmott were .judges of the fancy dress and awarded first honours in the women’s section to Miss G. Davidson as Minties, and the men’s first prize to Mr. G. Land as a skeleton. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss D. Davies and Mr. A. Danneford. Mr. T. Jackson, the Mayor, spoke •briefly eulogising the brigade prior to the presentation of trophies. Air. R. Ewing acted as M.C.
