BUTTER AND CHEESE Merchants report receipt of overseas cables as follow: — Dalgcty and Company. Limited, received , the following cablegram from its London house: —Butter; New Zealand, finest, salted, 165 sto 1675. Danish, 168 s to 3 695. Australian, finest, unsalted, 160 s to 1645; salted, 15Ss to 1625; good average quality, 150 s to 3 545. The market is quiet/ Cheese: New Zealand, white, S6s; coloured, SSs to 89s; Canadian, white, 104 s to 110 s; coloured, 104 s to 108 s. The market is quiet. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom last month were 605.000 cwt., compared with 462,000 cwt. for the corresponding period of last year. The increase is largely accounted for by Denmark, witli 3,000 tons more. New Zealand 1.750 tons, and Baltic States, 1,450 tons. A. H. Turnbull and Co., from their London principals, W. Weddell and Co., under date May 17:—Butter: Danish. 167 s to 1695; New Zealand, unsalted, 165 s to 168 s; salted, 165 sto 1675. Market quiet.
