SLUMP PERIOD OVER
CONDITIONS IMPROVE IN DARGAVILLE EMPTY HOUSES RUSHED (From Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Sunday. Dargaville has apparently passed the slump period. Houses that a year ago were unoccupied and would not be considered fit for tenancy are being snapped up with such rapidity that today it is almost impossible to obtain possession of one. Most of the better class places, which have been on the market for some considerable time, are now being freely sought after with a view to purchase. Several have changed hands within the last few weeks. One of the principal causes for the great demand is undoubtedly due to the men employed on the public works, who are preparing the way for the railway construction to Dargaville. Many are employed within a convenient distance of the town and can make their homes in Dargaville. Business generally is reported to be much better than it has been for some time past.
