OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL
An application on behalf of Mrs. Robertson, Avenue Road, for the removal of a garage on the property of Mr. Partridge, adjoining her property, so that it will conform with the borough by-laws, was considered by the Otahuhu Borough Council last evening. It was decided to give 28 days in which to remove the building'. The building inspector reported that building permits to the value of £7,904 had been issued during the month of April. . In reply to a complaint by Paine Bros regarding the state of the footpath in front of their premises, the clerk was authorised to advise them that the council would lay concrete flags provided they find half the cost. v letter from the district telegraph engineer, asking for the number of probable subscribers if an automatic exchange, connected with Auckland, was substituted for the present exchange, was referred to the Otahuhu Businessmen’s Association. On the proposal of Cr. Pearce, .it was agreed that reports of ail committee meetings be circulated to the councilors three clear days before a meeting, and that no verbal reports be submitted to the council. . Cr C B W. Seton was appointed to the Fire Brigade Committee, in place of Cr. H. R. Linkhorn, resigned. The foreman was empowered to prosecute the owners of any straying stock found on the borough roads. It was agreed that a presentation r>e made to Mr. E. Ayers, who has retired I from the employ of the council after 115 years’ service. ___
