KITCHENER SCOUTS
YEAR OF SOUND PROGRESS
ANNUAL MEETING HELD The First Kitchener Troop of Boy Scouts and Wolf Cubs held its annual meeting last evening in the Mount Eden Presbyterian Hall, there being a good attendance of parents, . interested friends, and members. The annual report recorded another year of sound progress in scouting. The Auckland District Commissioner. 3lr. W. J. Holdsworth, was present, and addressed the meeting. He referred to the interest the women took in the troop, and was also glad to see that several of the officers had been through the ranks of the troop themselves. Mr. Holdsworth outlined the ‘ Scout Day/' which is to be held on May 21. at the Farmers' Trading Company, when scouts will assist in directing the traffic and serve behind the counters of the warehouse. He hoped they would put their backs into the work, and so help to ptrt the. finances of. the movement in Auckland on a firm foot- . ing. Scoutmaster A. J. Gaily outlined the work of the scouts during the past 12 months, and made an appeal for more recruits. Cub master A. W. H. Gaily dealt with the work of the cubs.
The troop chaplain, the Rev. Leonard H. Hunt, made what he called his annual oration, and items, scouting and musical, were given by the members of the troop. Also on the platform were Assistant Scoutmasters P. Sladdin and R. 31. Salmon.
The following committee was elected for the ensuing year: Mesdaraes Thorbum, Jessup, 31 air, Hallay, and Cowperthwaite. and 31essr=. A. G. Brown. G. F. HoTlav. W_ a. Kirkness. A. R, Crombie, A. S. Oxley, A. G. Johnston, R. Richmond, G. W. A. Clark, A. T. Dow, and TV. H. Jacombf. Messrs. L. Aikman. Lane, and J. a _ Fherriff were made life members.
