NEW POWER BOARD
WAITEMATA POLL THREE STILL TO BE CHOSEN Thres new members, representing the Waitemata County, have yet to be elected to the Waitemata Power Board, and the election will take place on Wednesday next, when seven candidates will be offering. Yesterday 19 candidates offered themselves for seven seats as representatives of the Devonport, Takapuna, Birkenhead and New Lynn Boroughs under the new apportionment of seats, which will make the strength of the new board 12. Sitting members were successful in Devonport and Takapuna. rpHE election of three new members | is made necessary through the retirement of the sitting member for Birkenhead, Mr. E. G. Skeats, who is in England, the granting of separate representation to New Lynn following its elevation to borough status, and the granting of an extra member to Devonport. The candidates who will contest this election are Messrs. H. Day, F. W. Grigg, R. Glasgow, J. Mackie, L. E. Kerr-Taylor, G. O’Halloran and H. A. Robertson. At the poll yesterday, representatives for Devonport, Takapuna, Birkenhead, and New Lynn were elected. Mr. A. E. Greenslade has been returned unopposed for Northcote, and Mr. W. R. T. Leighton will occupy a seat as Henderson-Helensville-Glen Eden representative until September, 1931. The results of yesterday’s voting were:
