WANTON DAMAGE

THEFTS AT ELLERSLIE WINDOW SMASHED BY AXE Thieves wantonly damaged property at Ellerslie at a late hour on Thursday evening. Entrance to Mrs. M. McKeown’g bookseller’s shop in the Alexandra Theatre building was gained by breaking a plate-glass window with an axe Books and toys were taken, but the losses were not severe. The axe acts found in the vicinity. A bowser at a garage was damaged and Mr. H. Owillim’s fruit shop near the station was entered. Cordial containers and jars of sweets were broken, but nothing of value was taken.
