LODGE HALL OPENED
ORDER OF FORESTERS PROGRESS OUTLINED Taking the form of a social function, the new lodge hall of the Auckland District Ancient Order of Foresters in Wellesley Street West was opened last evening. Many delegates to the annual district meeting, which was held at Henderson to-day, were present, the district chief ranger, Mr. W. A. Knaggs, presiding over an attendance of about 120. The chairman said that the Order was founded in 1865, when there were 11 courts. The number of courts now was 33. In 1920 the assets of the district society were £46,685, while now they were £114,813. Since 1920 the Order had paid £34.000 in sickness and funeral allowances, £46,000 in medical benefits, £ 9,800 in hospital fees and £8,054 in maternity expenses. The new building had already cost £17,000, and the total cost was estimated at £24,000.
After the annual district meeting at Henderson there will be a social function in the Henderson Town Hall this evening.
