Thomson, the Otago Institute is urging on the Government the desirability of endeavouring to secure the services of the City of New York, the Byrd Antarctic Expedition supply ship, now tied up for the winter at Port Chalmers, and her staff, for hydrographic work on the New Zealand coast.
