JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT Judgment by default for £325 and costs was given in the Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Blair in favour of Ernest Cartier, farmer, of

Whakatane, who claimed half £7OO commission lie said was due to him as the result of a deal in a land lease. Defendants were James Lyon, Tu Lawson, Janies Brady, Emily Brady and Mary Mason.

Plaintiff, who was represented by Mr. Milne, said he and Lawson were partners, and they effected or obtained on behalf of the other defendants lease of a block of native land called Waikawa, near Whakatane. Commission amounting to £7OO had been agreed upon, and plaintiff had not obtained his share.
