HARBOUR BOARD SEAT
MR. H. R. MACKENZIE OPPOSED FIRST TIME IN 16 YEARS After having represented the Franklin district on the Auckland Harbour Board for the past 16 years, and being re-elected for each term unopposed, Mr. H. R. MacKenzie, who has occupied the office of chairman of the board for the last six years, is to be opposed at the forthcoming election by Mr. Ebenezer Allen, of Buckland. At a well-attended meeting of representative residents of Papatoetoe and surrounding districts, held in the Papatoetoe Town Hall during the week-end, it was decided to form a working committee to further the candidature of the present chairman. Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman of the Manukau County Council, presided, and Mr. MacKenzie was present. The following committee was elected: Chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters, secretary, Mr. H. C. Ernest, committee, Messrs. R. G. Ross, J. Muir, W. J. Nicholson, T. R. Smytheman, J. Trimble, S. McCullough, A. W. Hail, M.P., Waite, N. Gillard, W. Knight and A. Hall.
