Miss Valerie Harris, peacock gown of black georgette embroidered with rhine- , stones and worn over flesh pink chiffon, i Miss Peggy Keys, frock of cream milan lace worn over palest pink georgette. Miss Karo Mac Gill, iVory satin beaute j and georgette gown embroidered with rhinestones.. Miss Norma Johnston, cherry coloured chiffon velvet and georgette frock. Miss Barbara Potter, bouffant frock of apricot taffeta with yoke of pistache green, and green applique on the uneven skirt. Miss Blackman, gown of royal blue georgette embroidered with gold thread. Miss Joyce Johnston, black floral chiffon and black lace frock worn over palest pink. Miss MacDonald, picture frock of ivorv tulle with blue relief. Miss X. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Depot Committee of the Hospital Auxiliary was held at the Hospital Board room on Friday, April 5, the convenor, Mrs. Arthur Wakeman, presiding. The Transport Committee reported J having delivered numerous parcels of j clothing and foodstuffs in the sub- ! urbs. Parcels of clothing and donations j were received from -the following | branches: Mt. Eden, City Sewing, Birkdale and Te Atata Women’s Institute. All garments supplied by the branches were in excellent order, with a good assortment of women’s and children’s clothing, for which the Depot Committee was very grateful. During the month applicants for relief were very numerous, and many urgent cases were helped with food and clothing. The Transport Committee (Mrs. Marler) liad taken many patients to their homes when discharged from hospital. One hundred and sixty-seven garments were supplied to dependents of the sick, also vegetables and fruit, pyjamas, clothing, and 123 pots of jelly j to patients in hospital wards. Mem- | bers of the Visiting Committee on their I allotted days distributed cigarettes i jam, sweets, and books, to the different ■ | wards, and with their cheerful sym- j I pathy helped to bring sunshine to the I | weary patients. I Votes of thanks were passed to the I Victoria and Navy Leagues for donaj tions, to Hart Bros., for firewood, Mrs. I Freeman (Swanson) for three sacks of j apples, and to Mrs. Michael and Garj lick for making same into jelly. Clothing of all descriptions, espe- i cially men’s and boys’ clothing, and boots, are urgently required, and will be gladly accepted at the depot or will be called for.

WEDDING BELLS PACKER—RICKARD A wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated at St. James's Hall, Rangataua, recently, when Elsie Emily, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Rickard, of Rangataua, became the wife of Edwin E. Packer, son of Mrs. Gordon, of Taihape. The vicar, the ! Rev. J. H. Datson, officiated in the presence of a large number of friends. After the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Several toasts were honoured and all wished the couple every happiness in their future home. Amidst confetti and with many good wishes the young couple left during the evening for Auckland. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced from Sydney of Dorothea, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Vautier, of Hamilton, to Crompton, only son of Mrs. and th© late Mr. G. H. Hallan, of Queensland. The engagement is announced of Ella Cartwright, second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. E. Goodson, of Rotorua, to Eric Peter, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Carter, of Hamilton. The engagement is announced of Cora Joyce, youngest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. E. Goodson, of Rotorua, to William Keith, eldest .son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cooper, of Gisborne. The engagement is announced of Barbara Hay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Henry, of Remuera. to Dr. Edward H. Roche, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Roche, of Cambridge.
