WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETS AT HENDERSON
The monthly meeting of the Henderson Women's Institute was held on Tuesday at the Foresters’ Hall, Mrs. Robb occupying the chair. After a short discussion on various business matters, the members present gave their keenest attention to a demonstration of bandaging and first-aid bv Miss Katie Duncan, assisted by Mrs. Morris and Miss Ellis. The competition, in which a prize was offered for the best value made from material costing one shilling, was won by Mr*. Loring. who had made a very handsome table cover. All articles were sold to benefit the federation funds. # Mrs. Rushton read a humorous article entitled “Memories.'’ The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Booth and Mrs. Rushton 1 FAREWELL EVENING FOR MEMBER OF CHOIR i j A very enjoyable evening was spent on Thursday, when the choir of St. Benedict’s Church met to bid farewell J to Mrs. R. Dickinson, of Grafton Roau. ! who has been a member of the choir ! for many years, prior to her departure I 1 for Christchurch. During the evening items were given by Misses C. Duncan, G. Ryan. B. Boulton, Messrs, j A. Prentice and E. Mitchell. Mrs. Dickinson wore a frock of black : georgette and lace. Among those present were: Mrs. Ray Bellringer, beige georgette with fawn lace insets. Mrs. Squirrell, black satin and lace trimmings. Mrs. H. Stewart, shell pink georgette and diamante. Mrs. V. Bosworth, cream lace and georgette. Mrs. AV. .T. Vaughan, black georgette with white beaded embroidery. Mrs. R. Bell, duchess blue satin and silver laoe. Mrs. A. J. Fernandez, beige floral georgette and black satin cloak. Sigr.ora Constatini, mauve floral georgette with taffeta hip bow* and white fox fur. Miss Doreen DWuthreau, ciel blue taffeta and georgette. Miss Beryl Poulton. shell pink georgette with guipure lace. Miss Gladys Ryan, rose pink georgette and silver lace. Miss C. Duncan, black georgette with cherry relief. ! Miss E. Heighten, beige crepe tie chine. I M iss Hirst, blue sequined frock of mariette. | Miss A. Conelly, green floral georgette 1 and crepe de chine shawl.
