CRICKET AT MARION TOURISTS’ MISFORTUNES /• fSpecial to THE SUN) MARTON, T!'t>-day. The match against McGirr's eleven was continued yesterday on a greatly improved wicket, and a brig Sit day’s cricket resulted in RaugitikeTs defeat by an innings and 82 runs. It was unfortunate that N>ew Zealand's famous opening pair, Dempster and Foley, should have been separated through the former’s dismissal for his first duck of the season, but the latter held the fort and put on 76. Ross and Wilson went cheaply, but James made 32 and Wagstaff’s duck was followed by McGirr’s brilliant BS. Extras totalled 66, and the side went out for 255. Lowry, two for 25, was the best of the bowlers. Rangitlkei’s second strike was also a disaster, McGirr, who was the hero of the match, coming out with a fine average of seven for 37. Lowry, Dominion skipper, made 18 not out, and D. Cameron was again top scorer with 31. The total was only 85. The match was an outstanding success inasmuch as Ihe game here will he given a great impetus.
