(Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Sunday. A BLUEJACKET on H.M.S. Veronica believes in acting up to the watchword of the British Navy, “Always ready.” He was standing on the wharf at Castlecliff, Wanganui, when the explosion occurred on the dredge Kaione. In less than three seconds he had semaphored a message to his ship, and the ship’s ambulance and doctor were soon on their way to the Kaione.
