POLO CLUB SPORTS
CAMBRIDGE MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. .As a conclusion to the week’s provincml poio tournament, the Cambridge Club held its annual sports to-day at the racecourse. The function was a fitting conclusion to one of the most enjoyable and successful polo weeks ever held in Cambridge. Results were as follow: Visitors’ Plate, 2 furlongs.—W. Phillips’s Sea Day (C. Clarkin, 12st), 1; W. I. Taylor’s Glen Abbey, 2; H. Wilson’s Waiwiri (13st), 3. Won by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, 265. Hurdle Race, 6 furlongs.—James Taylor’s Glenfoil (R. Sampson, ll.lOl), 1; R. Russell’s Ping Pong (owner-rider, 11.7), 2; W. Phillips’s Black Gown (Clemett, 12.3 J), 3. "Won easily, a head between second and third. Time, 1.32. Polo Pony Cup, 4 furlongs.—W. Phillips’s Sea Day (Clarkin, 12st), 1; W. I. Taylor's Loch Abbey (R. Ranstead. 11.10 a), 2; Wynn Brown's Gold Dust (N. Brown, 12.3 a), 3j The race was started from four and a-half furlongs, and was won by three parts of a length, with three lengths between second and third. Time, 51 4-ss. Consolation Race, 3 furlongs.—Wynn Brown’s Gold Dust (N. Brown), 1; W. 1. Taylor’s G’en Abbey (R. Ranstead), 2; K. Henry’s Rose Earl (Henry), 3. Won by a neck, three lengths between second and third. Time, SSsec. Other events resulted:— Bending Competition.—Alan Fisher 1, W. Phillips 2, K. Henry 3. Polo Ball Race.—W. Ranstead 1, T. Hines 2. Pole- Test. —A. Clemett 3, Max Garland 2.
