ALL PULLED TOGETHER
ENGLISH CRICKETERS A HAPPY FAMILY CHAPMAN IN WELLINGTON Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Mr. A. P. S. Chapman, captain of the English cricketers, arrived by the Tahiti to-day on a short visit to New Zealand. He was welcomed by the Wellington Cricket Association. Interviewed, he said the whole side regretted it was unable to visit New Zealand, where matches would have done a great amount of good, as cricket in New Zealand was distinctly on the up grade. Regarding the Australian tour, Chapman said Australians were not so strong at the outset as previously, although, on paper, Australia’s first test team looked the strongest. The loss of Gregory and Kelleway in the first test started a rebuilding of the Australian team, which improved all the way through. Australia had now unearthed some very fine young players. England’s success on the tour was attributed by Chapman to splendid team work, all members pulling together and were a “happy family.”
