WHAN G ARE I ASSOCIATION At the annual meeting of the Wha
ngarei Hockey Association, the president (Mr. E. H*ay) suggested that an effort be made to secure a visit from the Australian team which is touring New Zealand this season. It was decided to recommend the new management committee to consider the question. . „ Officers were elected as follow: Patron, Mr. T. J. Murdoch, M.P.; president, Mr. E. Hay; vice-presidents, . C. M. Chissell and G. Larking; secretary, Mr. J. Batchelor; treasurer, Mr. F. Primmer; hon. auditor, Mr. A. D. Jack; selectors, Mr. H. Llannam (ladies) and Mr. E. Hay (men). At a subsequent meeting of delegates the following management committee was elected: —Mrs. Martin, Misses Simons, Cook, Tibbits and Lamb, and Messrs. llannam and Johns. PAPATOETOE CLUB Dr. A. B. Jameson, president of the Papatoetoe Hockey Club, presided at the annual meeting. Congratulations were extended to the club on its acquiring a new and up-to-date pavilion. Indications are promising for the ensuin’g year, and it is hoped that three teams will be competing in the Auckland Hockey Association’s competitions. Ample playing areas are available to accommodate all the teams on the local sports grounds. The election of officers resulted: Patron. Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P.; president, Dr. A. B. Jameson; vice-presi-dents, Dr. J. J. Valentine, Messrs. T. R. Smytheman, R. Corbett, G. Llosking, G. Runciman, W. J. Nicholson, R. McCullough, U. C. Ernest and E. S. Sorensen; secretary, and treasurer, Mr. F. E. Carr, Station Road, Papatoetoe; delegate to the Auckland Hockey Association, Mr. A. F. Catt; auditor, MiE. LI. Burnside. The selection of a committee and selectors was deferred till April 8, when an extraordinary meeting will be held.
