PRINCE LEAVES NAVY

GOES TO FOREIGN OFFICE

NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR SEA (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Tuesday. An announcement from Buckingham Palace, in reference to Prince George, says he has retired from active participation in the work of the Royal Navy in consequence of medical advice. Speaking at a Civil Service banquet last evening the Prince said he hopeV to acquit himself well at the Office, and to take a worthy share in the Civil Service both at home and abroad. The “Daily Chronicle’’ says a Civil Service training will be most valuable to Prince George should be become Governor-General of Canada, or follow the Prince of Wales in sowing the seeds of goodwill and friendship in the United States. The "Daily Mail” says Prince George has left the Navy solely for reasons of health, as it was felt that his constitution is not sufficiently robust to withstand the strenuous demands of a sea career. When the Prince goes to the Foreign Office he will be treated as an ordinary member of the staff.
